As daughter of the big boss, Rory Clarke has a hard time being taken seriously as VP of the company. It doesn't matter how smart she is or how hard she works, she always makes sure that her professional demeanor is beyond reproach. But when the guy she went home with the other night for an uncharactaristic night of unbridled passion, turns up as front runner for the job as her new assistant, she has a hard time keeping her tongue off the floor. She wants to show him where the door is, but the board of directors seem gung-ho to hire him on. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Rory decides she can do professional and keep her distance, if it appeases the board. Yeah right.

Knock him over with a feather, Lucas Blaine knows he is there to do a job, but one look at who was to be his boss, and all his good intentions go out the window. He won't be able to keep his eye on the ball with this distraction, and some distraction she is.

Losing sight of all propriety, Lucas and Rory just cannot keep eyes.......and then hands off each other. But knowing fraternizing between coworkers is frowned upon, they have to be circumspect. Right. They try to keep their entanglements out of the office and merely physical, but we all know those are famous last words. Soon they are spending more time together than apart and keeping things under wraps is becoming more and more complicated.

Not only that, Rory finds that Lucas is a bit of an enigma. He doesn't like talking about himself and can be very secretive at times. She is dying to find out all he is holding back....... the question is, when she finds out the truth, will she still want him?

******

What a great read!! Very unique tone in the writing...... a bit quirky, certainly humerous, but also emotional and very deliciously and descriptively sexy.

The story was also not your usual trope, which was refreshing to say the least!! For once a woman in the position of power, but it was so well done that it didn't make the man any less powerful in this book.

There wasn't a huge amount of character development, although Rory certainly loosened up some and  learned to let go of some of her need to look for constant approval. Finding she had it all the time anyway. While Lucas discovers that although money might buy you security, love is what keeps you safe.

This book was well-written, by an author I would hope to see more of.

✨An edgy, animated and sexy office romp.✨
