Doing anything needed to protect her father, Brandy Haas finds herself working at Cactus Cove, a Bantorus Motorcycle club bar, as a manager. She is supposed to be gathering information to pass back to Los Li, the Mexican Mafia who are holding her dad, but she has no experience around the biker culture. And the dark and brooding looking gorgeous looking hunk of muscle glaring at her is not really making her feel at home, even if he makes her insides twist up.

After a lifetime of hardship, topped by nearly being killed last year by Los Li in an MC confrontation, Bantorus MC's Torque Kendler is a private and cautious man who doesn't give his trust easily, and he doesn't trust the new chick in the bar. There is something about her that just doesn't fit Cactus Cove, even if it looks like she knows what she is doing. For one thing, she is too damn beautiful and distracting, and for another she has no idea of her place in the club.

Despite their initial antagonism toward each other, the sexual draw wins and they find they give each other something unique. But it isn't long before reality comes knocking and Brandy has no way of hiding the true reasons of her presence at the Cactus Cove.

*****

Oh Torque!!!

He's MINE I tell you, mine. Nicely aged, perfectly dented and warped, darkly stained with a rich petina..... Mmmmmmm

I'm telling you, Debra Kayn knows how to portray the most delicious Alpha males.....not a smooth and glib talker in the bunch!! All raw, real, coloured by life and multi-layered.....and so, so scrumptious!! If I could have one complaint, it would be that the leading ladies should be a little less perfect....maybe a little older? A little plumper?? Maybe a little more like...........say, MOI??? :)

The story line is an interesting one although not necessarily unfamiliar, but Debra manages to give it new life by creating unexpected responses from the cast of characters, giving the entire story a different feel. No knee-jerk rather asinine behaviour, but more mature and common-sense responses that really appealed to me.......as an adult.

The characters in this book, and in particular Torque, are given a solid context and they each have some heavy baggage to contend with. But what I absolutely adore about them, and what is ultimately unique about this book versus a ton of others out there, is that they DON'T use their issues as an excuse for bad behaviour.......they own it and cope with it. Just like real life.

I guess that is what appeals to me most about Debra Kayn's books, the genuine feeling I get from them. Sure, I know it is fiction, but it is fiction kept simple.....close to what could be real. And that makes it easy to transpose yourself, at least for the duration of the book, in the middle of the action.

Because Torque is an 'I am what I am' kind of man who just wants his slice of sunshine, and Brandy will do anything to give him his daily dose, because he gives her what she never thought she needed. And ultimately, because Debra Kayn was able to convey all of that to me...... I give all of them 5 big shiny stars!!!

✨Steamy, charged, stormy path to sunshine.✨
