After having found his "one", Cash Mayson was heartbroken to have to shut the door on her in favour of the promise of an unexpected pregnancy. The choice leaving him without one or the other was a gut-wrenching one and although he is able to provide his son with the father he deserves, he never gets over the loss of the woman meant for him.

Left rejected, Lilly Donovan was forced to raise her child alone. One attempt to contact Cash had crushed any illusions she might have had of him ever having a part in her life. She spent years rebuilding her broken heart and giving all her attention to her daughter.

Lilly has just moved back to Tenessee to start her new job, when she bumps into the last person she was prepared to see. Cash. What starts out as an acrimonious reunion, turns into disbelief as some inconsistencies come to light. Both shocked by the revelations and stunned by the strength of feelings still remaining, they try to find a way to connect. At least for the sake of the children.

However, it is clear soon enough, that the love that once existed is still there. But is it enough to bridge the gap and losses left by lies and manipulations?

****

A hot, beautiful, tender-hearted novel with a sweet, spunky heroine and an awesome, swoon-worthy hero!!

Another tremendously well-written novel by Aurora Rose Reynolds, who amazes me with her hard/soft male characters who lose absolutely nothing of their dominant or Alpha appeal, by having a gentler and softer side. Her female characters are much the same in that they are never quite one-dimensional, but present layers of interesting dynamic, often a touch of sweet overlaying a hint of stubborness, and certainly a backbone.

Lilly is a bit of a firecracker, who likes to march to her own drummer - at least that's how she starts out - but at the same time has a certain innocent appeal. The first time she lets down her guard completely with a man, she gets the lid slammed down on her and immediately she retreats into her new role as single mom. It isn't until Cash re-enters her life, that she truly starts blossoming as an individual again.

Cash is a good man, trying to make the right choice in a bad situation. He is very family oriented and would have loved nothing more than to have had things turn out differently, but he will live up to his responsibilities. His life as a father is fulfilling, but not complete. When Lilly reappears in his life, he finally believes there might be a chance for him to have it all.

The interaction between Cash and Lilly is cute, endearing and hot and a lot of the time gets very, very shivery, steamy and sweaty!!

There are no huge highs or lows, or particularly exciting aspects to this book, this is simply a good solid story, a second chance after things have gone terribly wrong the first time..... Although, you can't really say they have gone 'terribly wrong'. Life simply got in the way, and frankly, in the end, came out richer.

A vibrant, sultry & moving second chance....✨
