ONE TO PROTECT by Tia Louise

ONE TO PROTECT
(One To Hold #3)
by Tia Louise
ARC Review
Release: April 21, 2014

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

Even though Melissa has found her new beginning with Derek, she is still plagued with nightmares of her abusive ex-husband. Rich and successful, the man has been able to slip out from under every criminal charge filed against him, leaving her feeling rather exposed. Especially since she doesn't just have herself to worry about anymore.

Being in the security business affords Derek Alexander a few more tools to keep tabs on his fiancee's violent ex. But the constant reminder of his inability to end the nightmares for his woman, once and for all, grates on his protective nature. He has done everything possible to keep the man behind bars, but he simply is too well connected.

When the body of a former call girl turns up, the discovery she is a tie back to some painful history, may be the breakthrough they have been waiting for. Derek will do everything in his powers to stop Melissa's ex, before he can ever get near her again. Even if it means breaking his own highly held moral code with the help of his partner in a walk on the dark side....

Freaking holy hotness!!!

I ADORE Tia Louise!!! Truly I do. She writes fantastic juicy, fun, steaming hot love scenes, with tough manly men who can melt at the hands of their women.

Derek and Melissa are the couple from One To Hold, the first book in the series, and although this novel functions as a standalone, I feel it would be beneficial to read all the books in the series, simply to get a feel for the writing, the characters, and the back story. However, One To Protect is a complete story in itself, with a completion for Derek and Melissa.

One of the great things about Tia's stories is that although they have their happy ever afters, not all is rainbows and unicorns..... Not all issues resolve themselves magically by the end of each book, which is more true to life than the alternative. Practical conflicts and ongoing negotiations are evident with the relationship between Derek and Melissa as well, but they do not take away from the strong bond between them. And even at the end of this novel, there is the implication that things are as perfect as they can be ...... given the circumstances!! And that is an important distinction! One that Ms. Louise is not afraid to make, having her feet solidly planted on terra firma.

One To Protect held all the right components of an AWESOME read for me: Fabulous strong characters, both male and female; A great supporting cast, adding colour and depth to the storyline; Intrigue and suspence, providing a component of tension and action, and; A deep and solid romance, liberally enhanced with off the charts, sparking sexual chemistry.

✨A red-hot and intense page-turner!✨

    1. Thank you so much, TL!! And I felt that might be an apt description for how Derek probably saw it himself....;)
