HE'S SO FINE by Jill Shalvis

HE'S SO FINE
(Lucky Harbor Novel)
by Jill Shalvis
ARC Review
Release: September 30th, Forever (Grand Central Publishing)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

"For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?"

*****

It's funny, but my adoration for Jill Shalvis' books only seems to grow with every new one I read!!

Cole Donovan is the second of the three friends who run a charter boat company in Lucky Harbor to be hit with the love bug. A straight shooter and a bit of a nerd, slash, handyman, Cole is always prepared for eventualities. The one thing he hadn't counted on was to be bowled over by the somewhat eccentric owner of the local vintage store. But, as Cole does, he rolls with the punches. And although he has been inactive on the love front since a fatal accident left him not only bereaved, but betrayed, Olivia manages to clear out the cobwebs with one bat of her eyelashes.

Basking in her newfound anonymity in Lucky Harbor, Olivia Bently is finally living life on her terms. her vintage shop brings her pleasure and ensures the bills are paid, and the daily view of the eyecandy across the street provides for her entertainment. If not for the texts and phonecalls reminding her of the life she left behind, she could almost be happy. But the pressure is on to return to her so called 'responsibilities', something she wants nothing more to do with. And complicating it is one particular piece of 'candy' by the name of Cole, with whom she had rather reluctantly formed a connection. More than ever, she battles to keep her old life and her new one here in Lucky Harbor separated. But life has a way of catching up with you at the most inappropriate moments......

As usual, Jill creates delightful characters, just shy of perfect. Individuals with flaws that are relatively easy to understand and not that difficult to forgive. Simply because they are so damn loveable! The story is deliciously romantic and positively swoon-worthy, with the perfectly timed and portioned amount of humor to prevent the book from becoming too saccharine.... which would be a big turn off for me!

It's all about the balance, and Jill Shalvis knows exactly how to set those scales sharply. As a reader I know I will never go wrong when I grab one of her titles; As a blogger I feel confident that when I recommend a book by her hand, my followers will get a quality read, and; As a writer I hope to one day achieve only a fraction of the apparent ease with which Jill Shalvis creates her alternate worlds.

✨Spunky, vivacious and oh so sexy!!✨
