"Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her.

While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive.

Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law.

As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer."

*****

A great read!!

A chilling concept, woman alone running in the woods, disappears without a trace. Except Emory knows where she is. Sort of. She is being kept against her will, or so it seems. And suddenly her real life issues with her husband become rather insiginificant in comparison. Survival is the focus of the day, except she comes to find the man who is holding her, might not actually be the enemy. Or is he? Difficult to tell, when he won't even give her his name.
All she knows is what she can see, there isn't a lot, and what there is is more confusing than clarifying.

The man is reluctant to share his name or his past with anyone, desperate to stay in the shadows. What was difficult for me to understand in hindsight, was given the at times dire circumenstances that not only befell him, but others as well, he could not find it in him to clear the air. The truth was not near as much of a shocker.

Nevertheless, holding on to this information for as long as is possible did ensure that plot anticipation was very hight on this book, and well worth it in the end!!

✨For fans of suspense as well as romance - this would be THE book for you!✨
