Phew!!! Scorching hot second book in the Windy City Kink series by fabulous Kelly Jamieson. 

Neither Mallory nor Joe are particularly looking forward to their respective trips when they are held over due to a cancelled flight. Their instant attraction and unexpected night of blistering passion leads to sharing of private details of their lives. It's not as if they were planning to see each other again.....

But fate throws them together again, or maybe it is luck. Regardless, the outcome is the same; what started as a fun one night stand with a virtual stranger, turns into a tentative relationship between two people who already know more about each other than their closest relatives do....

The characters are interesting and in particular Joe is a different type of hero with a more sensitive edge. I liked his rather disarming nature right off the bat. Mallory is slightly passive at the outset, but finds her voice during the course of the story and grew on me quickly. Especially once she decided to let her hair down and let go. 

A romance with a pair of subplots playing out in the background giving the the main story some context. Well written, and that can't be a surprise from Kelly Jamieson. The steam is coming off in thick clouds and copiously throughout the book.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?  

The message that runs through all three books in the Windy City Kink is to accept yourself for who you are. Sasha learns that in Sweet Obsession, Mallory learns it in All Messed Up and Paige learns it in Playing Dirty (coming in January). And secondary characters Kevin and Emma, who appear in all three books, learn it too.

What is for you the perfect book hero?

I love all kinds of heroes. I love super alpha dominant guys as long as they’re protective and caring. They can screw up but they have to admit it and grovel. I like beta heroes too, guys who are maybe a bit geeky or brainy rather than brawny, and I most especially, especially love a hero with a sense of humor. Obviously, this is true in real life too! Make me laugh and you’ve got me. Regardless of whether they’re alpha or beta, I love a hero who is strong and loyal and courageous and will make sacrifices for the one he loves.

When you start a book, do you already have the whole story in your head or is it built progressively?

I plan out what I call the “emotional turning points” of my story. I know what my characters are going to learn about themselves and the big scenes where there are moments of epiphany. But I don’t always know exactly what’s going to happen in those scenes or how that ending is going to make them realize they’ve been their own worst enemy all along. Once I’m in their heads, my characters take control of those things (and frequently surprise me!).

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

My biggest challenge is to believe in myself. So many times in the middle of a book, I’m convinced it’s total garbage, or I’ll never finish it, or I’ll never write another book again.

What are your current projects?

Ack, so many things in the works! I’m working on a new hockey series. Books 1 & 2 are done and book 3 is started. I just handed in a book to my Samhain editor that I’m SUPER excited about. It’s book 1 of a planned series set in a Chicago advertising agency. I am SO in love with Levi, the hero! He is the funniest, sexiest dominant hero I’ve ever written. And I have a couple of stand-alone romances that are in the editing process.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I love you!!! Is that enough, lol? I am so deeply grateful to everyone who buys my books. I love writing and I love sharing my stories and it still amazes me that I get to do this and that people buy my books. THANK YOU!
