Review - UNEXPECTED FATE by Harper Sloan

Unexpected Fate
(Stand alone)

4 of 5 Stars

Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was.

Or I should say recognize him for who he was.

I’ve loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He’s been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I’ve loved him through every girlfriend he’s ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I’ve loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he’s acted like I’m a stranger.

My name is Danielle Reid, and it’s time for me to get my man.

Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say…it’s going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen.

***

Danielle Reid is a completely likable young woman. She is strong, confident and seems to know exactly what she wants. The question is she willing to put herself out there and try to get it or continue to sit back and let life pass her by while she sits on the sidelines. Her wonderful BFFs have her back and are trying to give her a suggestive push. Is it a push in the right direction? Will she push fate and see if it is on her side?

What is not to love about Cohen? He is a handsome strong alpha male that just so happens to be part of the Special Ops. The fact that he is her brothers best friend, the oldest son of her parents closest friends, and five years older than her might cause a problem.

I enjoyed this book from the first pages right to the end. Watching these two grow and learn as they let fate lead them on the path intended. The emotional roller coaster caused by some unexpected surprises along the way will keep you flipping the pages. This is my first Harper Sloan read and I will be certain to venture back to acquaint myself with the Corps Security Crew.
