Tattoo artist Brody "Cujo" Matthews knows how to keep things simple. In life and in love. Abandoned as a child by a mother who refused to stick around to raise three boys she didn't want, he's intent on staying clear of complicated women. At 17 Drea is dealt with some serious responsibility to look after her mother when she becomes very ill. This puts her life and dreams on hold and has her wondering how the bills were going to get paid. While working at the she is frightened when a man chases a customer out of the café as she watches from the back room. Drea and Cujo have a love hate relationship until the same man holds them at gun point a few days later at the café. They discover the man was looking for a flash drive that held incriminating information on a lot of high ranking people. After looking through the information Drea’s number one concern is finding out what happened to the lady from the café.
Cujo wants to start a relationship with Drea however his insecurities from his mother leaving his family when he was eight and the possibility of not being able to have children because of his past illness he pushes her away. He finally realizes that together they can get through anything. Cujo’s mother re-enters there life when she is found badly beaten, with amnesia and his dad is notified by the hospital. Drea recognizes her as the lady from the café. When she gets her memory back they find out exactly how she is involved.
This book caught my attention very early on and kept through until the end. I can’t wait for the next one.
