Book Review - HOLD YOU BREATH by Katie Ruggle

Hold Your Breath (Search and Rescue #1)
by Katie Ruggle

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder...

As the captain of Field County's ice rescue dive team, Callum Cook is driven to perfection. But when he meets new diver Louise "Lou" Sparks, all that hard-won order is obliterated in an instant. Lou is a hurricane. A walking disaster. And with her, he's never felt more alive...even if keeping her safe may just kill him.

Lou's new to the Rockies, intent on escaping her controlling ex, and she's determined to make it on her own terms...no matter how tempting Callum may be. But when a routine training exercise unearths a body, Lou and Callum find themselves thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a killer who will stop at nothing to silence Lou-and prove that not even her new Search and Rescue family can keep her safe forever.

3.5 of 5 Stars

Lou has chosen to take her life into her own hands after being a robot for her parents. Going to the school that they chose for the career that they chose. When they started trying to dictate which man was the right on for her it was the last straw. She didn't want that predictable life, she wanted fun and adventure. Don't get me wrong it was anything but easy. Picking up and moving from all the comforts you could have to a small cottage in the Colorado mountains. Learning how to fend for yourself to survive. But she is loving being her own person. When she starts working for Field County's Ice Rescue team she finds herself in the company of one brody Callum Cook. He is her boss and can be a pain in the ass but she can't deny that she feels a little drawn to him...

Callum is the captain of the dive team and he likes think to be in order. He gets picked on all the time for his OCD ways by his team of divers. When the pretty and inexperienced Lou Sparks starts he has this internal need to look out of her. When strange things start happening to Lou he takes it upon himself to stick close in case she needs him. The more time they spend together the more Callum seems to be warming up to her. His crew are starting to notice a few more smiles and a little less strictness. Is there something going on with them?

As the events start to pile up, Callum and Lou decide to join forces and see what they can do to help with the investigations. They may even get their fingers slapped for being where they shouldn't be. Soon enough it is Lou and her safety that seems to be in danger. Will this time together bring Callum out of his shell? Will Lou maybe find herself some love in her new life?

There is plenty of action to keep you turning the pages in this adventure. What is going to happen next. Will all the mysteries be solved?
