Release Blitz & Review - HAWKE by Sawyer Bennett

Title: Hawke
Series: Carolina Cold Fury Hockey #5
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Publisher: Loveswept
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 15, 2016

The New York Times bestselling hockey series featuring the Carolina Cold Fury continues as the team’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away.

Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

4 Stars

I have really enjoyed the Cold Fury Series. I like that every couple has a their own unique story. But this story is a second chance at true love.

Hawke has worked his ass off and finally is right where he wants to be in his career. Starting with the Cold Fury and fighting for a position on the front line. Sure he still likes to party and have a good time but it might be loosing some of its appeal. Then to be blindsided by Vale now being part of the athletics team, it can't be possible. All those old wounds are ripped wide open again.

Vale was so certain all those years ago that he was leaving her forever. Add one night of crazy events and it all seemed so much worse. It has taken some real digging to find her place in life and grow with it. Then her dad gets sick and things begin to spiral. So she is about to start over again, but he is here. How on earth can they work together?

Will they be able to forgive and find a way to move forward? Even if they could get to a point to be friends. But what if the feelings are still there underneath that anger? Could it be possible? Could they have a real second chance?

This story had some raw emotions.

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett is a snarky Southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. Her husband works for a Fortune 100 company that lets him fly all over the world while she stays at home with their daughter and three big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Bennett would like to report that she doesn’t have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.
