THE HARD COUNT
Mature YA Contemporary Romance-Stand Alone
Release Date: July 15, 2016

Nico Medina’s world is eleven miles away from mine. During the day, it’s a place where doors are open—where homes are lived in, and neighbors love. But when the sun sets, it becomes a place where young boys are afraid, where eyes watch from idling cars that hide in the shadows and wicked smoke flows from pipes.

West End is the kind of place that people survive. It buries them—one at a time, one way or another. And when Nico was a little boy, his mom always told him to run.

I’m Reagan Prescott—coach’s daughter, sister to the prodigal son, daughter in the perfect family.
Life on top.
Lies.
My world is the ugly one. Private school politics and one of the best high school football programs in the country can break even the toughest souls. Our darkness plays out in whispers and rumors, and money and status trump all. I would know—I’ve watched it kill my family slowly, strangling us for years.

In our twisted world, a boy from West End is the only shining light.
Quarterback.
Hero.
Heart.
Good.
I hated him before I needed him.
I fell for him fast.
I loved him when it was almost too late.

When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West End.

4.5 of 5 Stars

What a book...where do I start. I read a wide range of books with a wide range of topics. This book is overflowing with heart and drive to be all you can be. To get the most you can out of the life you have been given.

While writing about the challenges of surviving private school, fighting for your place based on so called status, and just trying to be a teen learning to love life and build dreams. Ginger makes you feel like you are part of the community, watching these young people embrace life. You feel the emotions that they are going through. There are so many important messages in this book.

Reagan is a special kind of girl. Football has been part of her life for so long that she sees things most wouldn't. When she watches her dad struggle to bring the Tradition back to victory, she worries about the strains it has on him and her family. She see special abilities in the one boy who drives her crazy in debate. Can she set feelings aside and draw him in, will her dad give him a shot?

Nico has one focus, get the best education he can get and make something for himself. It is not that he doesn't love his family, doesn't love the home his mother has provided for him. He just wants things a little easier than he has experienced growing up. Last place he ever expected to find himself was in the middle of the football team. But given the opportunity to thrive is all he needs. Can he run with is and be a success?

I am always on the watch for YA books to share with my teen daughter. I have purchased this book for her as well. Thank you Ginger for sharing this special part of you with us all.

When she's not writing, the odds are high that she's somewhere near a baseball diamond, either watching her son field pop flies like Bryce Harper or cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
