Review - NIKAN REBUILT by Scarlett Cole

Nikan Rebuilt
by Scarlett Cole

Does the past ever really stay in the past?

Nikan can never be complete. He's got a rock group made up of the family he built for himself, more money than he knows what to do with, and a stream of groupies falling over themselves to date him. But none of them are her. The one regret that still plagues him, still taunts him with what he could have had.

Jenny is a survivor. Now running a group home after overcoming life in a cult led by her manipulative father and watching her mother drink the poison he fed his followers, she fights to keep the light in the eyes of every boy who walks through her doors. Far from simple young love, Nik taught her to trust, showed her how good life could be. Before he formed the band. Before he became a famous rockstar. Before he destroyed it all.

A chance meeting after years of no contact shows the connection still blazes between them. But will they have their second chance at love? Or will the weight of their past crush their future together?

Nikan’s story began when he was a young boy. His life was forever changed the day he witnessed the murder of his mother. After being tossed from foster home to foster home he finally found a family with Ellen and Maisey. With 5 other boys living in the foster home with him they quickly became a family. Nikan was always the glue that held his brothers together. Even now he is always the one fixing all of their problems. The only problem with this is he forgot to deal with his own problems in the process.

When re-united with an ex-girlfriend his insight on what he wants out of life changes. His adult life has revolved around his rock band Preload. He is financially set but all he wants is to prove to Jenny that she can trust him again. Nikan finally decides to put himself first for once and tells his brothers that he needs a break from the band.
Will he be able to find what he is looking for professionally and personally?

I have enjoyed this series very much but Nikan kept me glued to my reading until I was finished. I was torn between devouring it and wanting to read it slowly to make it last as long as I could.
