5 Stars

As a reader who loved the Portland ME series, I was super excited for Matt to get his story. I understand the series was more portrayed as the journey the ladies had gone through to fight back to find happiness, but it isn't always the woman who have to fight for life and happiness, sometimes life can break down men just the same. Matt is a perfect example of this. This novella can totally be read as a stand alone, but be prepared to have a desire to start the series from the beginning and finding a whole family to love.

As Matt sets out on this journey to his home town to bring his sister Leena out to the grasp of the religious beliefs of his family. He finds his emotions on high alert, he always wished he could have taken her with him all those years ago but she was just too young. Now she has asked him to come and help her leave. Travelling at Christmas is always hard but he is willing to do anything for Leena.

Tana is excited to be headed home for the holidays to spend some time with her parents, give them some much needed time with Flynn. She is not looking forward to the travel with a cranky toddler who isn't feeling quite up to par. Discussing her fathers health and helping him to see that he needs to slow down a bit is not high on the excitement list but must be done.

A few chance meetings, and storm that halts traffic is the perfect opportunity to spend some time getting to know each other. Watching Matt bend over backwards to included Flynn and keep her happy while giving Tana a break, only makes Matt more attractive. While feelings come out of nowhere and are fast and hard, they are a true sense of home and belonging for people who never really felt a sense of belonging.

Why a novella? I always struggle with novella's because it never seems like enough time for these characters. I always want more. Matt, Montana and Flynn have taken my heart and I want more time with time.... It was a the perfect warm and fuzzies for a holiday romance.
