This book is a love story brought on by tragedy. One night, no names, never to see each other again until eight years later when Conner is forced back to his home town due to the death of his father. Conner did not want to be back at his father’s farm or anywhere near Pennsylvania, however his father had other plans. Six months for him and each of his brother spent on the farm before they could sell it. While fixing up the farm to sell Conner stumbles across a young girl hiding in his old tree house. He soon finds out that the mother of this girl is his angel from 8 years ago and she lives on the farm next door with her husband.
Conner vows to stay away from Ellie as she is a married women. This all changes one night when Conner awakes to Hadley banging on his door looking for someone to help her mom. What Connor finds when he arrives at their house is very disturbing to him. Ellie’s life with her husband has not been easy. His heart breaks for her and what she has been through. He vows to never let anyone hurt her again. Ellie and Hadley stay with Connor and life seems to get very easy for all of them. Questions from the past are answered about the night they were together, with some welcome surprises along the way. However a secret from his past threatens to destroy everything.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Corrine was able to able to instill many different emotions in this story from heart wrenching to never ending love. I was completely captivated by the story and loved all of the characters. I can’t wait to read the next Arrowood brothers book.
