Release Blitz - DAISY'S DARKNESS by D.M. Earl

Title: Daisy's Darkness
Series: Wheels & Hogs #6
Author: D.M. Earl
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: February 26, 2021

How did my life become such a battle just to breathe? When did I start to hate everything that is me? Along the way where did I lose my family, the Horde, and their support I have always relied on? Why did I push them away? What’s going on with me? Who am I anymore? Why do I even care when it seems no one else does?

My life is a constant struggle. Getting up everyday is becoming harder and harder. I feed the demons of my loneliness by myself because I refuse to reach out for help. Why won’t I reach out? As the emptiness of my very existence threatens my sanity, I search for ways to make myself just feel. The problem is each time I find a new way to feel it’s not only causing me pain but also bodily harm.

Will I be able to focus on the light amongst all the pain and darkness my mind sees? Will the people fighting to bring me back win or will the emptiness of my soul finally pull me down to nothingness? I don’t have a clue.

4.5 Stars

This is the 6th book in the Wheels & Hogs Series and it has a much different vibe but brings us all the characters that we have come to love along the way. Most of the book is from Daisy's POV as she goes through the hell of teenage reality in this day and age. Self image, bullying, hormones and social media just to name a few. D.M. brings some pretty heavy subject matter to light in a way many might not think about but sadly it is all too real.

Daisy has never really saw herself as one of the "cool" kids. She is more of a nerdy girl with her group of friends the "queenies". They have always had good open and honest conversation amongst them and been there for each other. As more thing start happening and Daisy seems to be falling into the darkness of her thoughts and feelings she draws back a little and starts keeping things to herself. Before she knows it she feels isolated and like she can't talk to anyone as they just won't understand and think she is crazy. Her home soon doesn't even feel safe when her older brother start dating the head mean girl of the school.

When her big brother Jagger realizes that Daisy is having some serious problems, he is quick to bring things forward to the rest of the family. Needing to be her protector and savior as he has always been. Daisy realizes she has a family that loves her and will stand by her in anything. Being there for her to help her heal and work through her issues. Both blood family and the Horde who have a strong presence.

Griffin has noticed Daisy a long while ago but was playing his time waiting for her to grow up a little. He is quick to get involved when he realizes that she is struggling. He has been there done that and wears his badges pretty honestly. Life can suck and it can be difficult to endure but it is worth every step of the work to get to the other side. It is constant work and having someone close that understands an be very helpful. It's clear that Griffin has feelings for Daisy and I am pretty sure they are returned. Maybe we will get more from Griffin and Daisy in the books to come.

This had to have been a hard book to write and for some the subject matter will be too much, too graphic but the author has done a great job of blending the bad with the love of family and friends. Making the story something we can relate to and understand from a different point of view. As a mother of two teen daughters it was like watching a train wreck but not being able to take my eyes off it either, devouring the book in one day. So very worth the read.
