The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done. Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant. Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.

Rachel comes across to us from the very beginning as being feisty and forward, but alcohol might have a little bit to do with that. The more we get to know her through the book we see that she is loving and protective of the people in her life. A life that has not always been pretty or something to be proud of and she wears the past pretty heavily on her shoulders. She is determined to make something of herself with music therapy. Something that has worked for her for many years.
Caine appears to be harsh and controlling on the outside to his students and fellow co-workers. But like many there is a reason for his actions. He spent his time on the carefree side of the coin and it didn't fair out for him to well. Now he prefers to keep himself on the straight and arrow, busy and focused. He has struggled with keeping a TA for different reasons and when he discovers Rachel is his new TA, he is completely intrigued. He feels like he already knows this woman in some way. He is drawn to her in a way he shouldn't be and struggles to keep his distance.
Will Rachel and Caine cross that line? Will events of their past pull them apart of bring them closer together? Will they be able to put the quilt of the past behind them or will it continue to shape who they are today? Is it a just a coincidence?
Another strong read by Vi Keeland, her characters are always so likeable, they draw you into their story and hold you captive by their emotions.
