We begin this book right where the cliffhanger left us in book 4. WOW!! Be prepared for some pretty big news, some pretty hard truths, some unavoidable lies to come to light and so much emotions jumping right off the pages.
Duncan knew he had found the love of his life all those years ago. But when he was told after the accident that she had died, he believed the people that were supposed to have his back. Sure he has moved on in all ways possible except opening his heart up again. Putting together his found family of teammates has been his sole focus. That is until he opens the door and finds the surprise of his life.
After the accident everyone tried to make Sloane feel like she was along in the car. But she knew better, and the only one who believed her and stood by her was her big brother. He helped her get back on her feet and with anything she needed as a single mother. Secretly she believed Rogan was still alive somewhere and would find them. She just didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle.
Duncan and Sloane have so many hurdles to cross as they move forward in this new life. Duncan working to earn the trust of Sloane after everything that happened. Getting to know his children he was certain he would never have. But most importantly, keeping them safe while they find out why they were kept apart.
A fantastic end to a great series full of characters we have all come to love. Sad to see the end but also excited to see where we might go next.
