Spotlight & Review - IN SAFE HANDS by Katie Ruggle

He was her hero,
But one wrong move ended their future before it could begin.
Now he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe,
Even if that means turning against one of his own.

As a member of the Field County Sheriff's Department, Chris Jennings is used to having it rough. The Colorado Rockies aren't for the weak-of-spirit, but he's devoted his life to upholding the law—and to protecting the one woman he knows he can never have. He'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Daisy Little has lived in agoraphobic terror for over eight years. Trapped within a prison of her own making, she watches time pass through her bedroom window. Daisy knows she'll never be a part of the world...until the day she becomes the sole witness of a terrible crime that may finally tear the Search & Rescue brotherhood apart for good.

When she’s not writing, KATIE RUGGLE rides horses, shoots guns, and travels to warm places where she can SCUBA dive. Graduating from the Police Academy, Katie received her ice-rescue certification and can attest that the reservoirs in the Colorado Mountains really are that cold. While she still misses her off-the-grid, solar- and wind-powered house in the Rocky Mountains, she now lives in Rochester, Minnesota near her family.

4 of 5 Stars

I have completely enjoyed the drama and excitement that has been happening in the small town of Simpson throughout this series and I have to say that Katie stepped it up a notch with the finale to the series. I love that she was able to keep the characters from the previous books involved without letting them take over the newest couple. There are still so many unanswered questions floating around from the previous events, will we get some answers?

As we get to meet and know Daisy my heart hurts for her. I can't imagine for the life of me not leaving my home, ever.... It has been so many years that she has altered the way she lives and all out of fear and loss. I am so thankful that she has had Chris and her dad to help her along the way. The more we get to know and understand Daisy, the more I like her. She is such a strong individual and when she finally gets to meet a few more people that she can interact with, she starts to pop out of her shell. You get to witness the transformation piece by piece.

Chris is a Deputy for the local Sherrif's office. He has been beside Daisy since the trauma that has kept her trapped inside her home. This alone shows me how much of a caring man he is. He is a strength that Daisy seems to need to know that she is not completely crazy, yes fear is holding her back but he does everything he can to prove to her that she is a normal woman other than that. Helping her find people that will come to her and helping her build new friendships is the sweetest thing.

When Daisy notices strange things happening in her neighborhood and starts to share them the mysteries just keep getting bigger and harder to unveil. Chris starts to struggle with work and the chains of command. Can this group sort through the events and make Simpson a safe place once again?

The attention to detail that Katie puts into making Daisy's fear feel real while reading is something to be proud of. It is like you understand the anxiety, you can picture yourself in her shoes. I think that In Safe Hands is my favorite of the series.
