Reivew - DEEP COVER by Scarlett Cole

ARE THEY IN TOO DEEP?

Ex-Navy SEAL Cabe Moss always comes when called to duty―at all costs. Even though the death of his fiancĂ©e nearly destroyed him, Cabe won’t let his past interfere with any work that has to get done. When his latest task pushes him to team up with FBI Agent Amy Murray, a fierce beauty with the undercover skills to match, Cabe must admit that, for the first time in years, he wants to do more than just complete their mission together…

Amy was born ready for this assignment, but working side-by-side with the the strong, silent, and frustratingly professional Cabe seems to be the biggest challenge of all. But when the sparks begin to fly―and the stakes rise to dangerous heights―the only thing Amy is left worrying about is how she can resist him. Their lives may be in danger, but their hearts hold the biggest risk of all…

4 Stars

This is the first book in the series that I have read, but I never felt like I was missing something because I hadn't read they others. I did feel like I will have to go back and read the previous books as I am curious about the other characters and how everyone fits in.

Amy is a woman on a mission. She is determined to help people who find themselves in the same loss situation she has dealt with since she was a young child. There are never enough resources, maybe not enough people who truly care about finding that missing person and bringing them back to their family. As a result she finds herself living away from the small amount of family that she cares the most for. Her work in the FBI keeps her busy but she doesn't have the close relationships with friends that everyone hopes to have. When she is offered a chance to go undercover to help find the missing women she has been working on she is quick to agree.

Cabe is proud of the security team that he has formed with his two best friends. Ex-seals who still have a need to help people and make the world we live in a better place without the distance and depth of the Seals. They have come a long way in the past two years. When they are brought in to work beside the FBI and RICO in a combined money laundering and missing women case, it is his team that is put to the test. Care and precision has gotten him where he is today but working with the beautiful female agent might be too much. Knowing too well what can happen in battle.

There is an obvious attraction between Amy and Cabe when they first meet. But they both have their share of baggage in the closet that holds them back. No to mention crossing the lines of duty while on a case is certainly not the in the best interest of everyone. Will they be able to keep the lines drawn? Or will feeling come to the surface, forcing them to deal with the baggage and maybe move on with life?

Ms. Cole had me drawn into the book early with the suspense and technicalities of the case. But the chemistry between Amy and Cabe was sparking from the very beginning. I also enjoyed how the secondary characters helped to solidify the main characters. Job well done.
