A wonderful start to a new series full of lots of characters and things happening around the small town to have us hanging around for a bit. The chemistry and banter between our main characters made this gumpy/sunshine book fun to read, well that and a little sweetheart of a girl and her new horse.

Paisley has just returned to her home town trying to start over again. Spending much needed time with her grandfather who helped raise her. She is determined to work hard and make her dreams a reality once again after a failed relationship. Excited to start working with horses and training again, she can't wait to get to her new job. That is until she see the same icy blue eyes of the guy she bumped into in on the street.

Caleb is trying to do everything he can to make certain Evelyn has the best life and is safe from the parts of his world, he sometimes wishes he wasn't part of. He has no damn idea what to do with a child, much less how to open up his heart and let her in. The only person he ever loved was Kimberly and he didn't get to be there for her when he could. Will he be able to let go of the quilt and parts of his past that haunt him, let love back into his life, move forward?

Knowing Caleb is concerned someone will come looking for them, it adds a small part of suspense to the story. When little things start happening, it hightens the mood and adds to the fears. Will they be safe? Will Paisley be able to sneak below the surface and find his heart? Can Caleb be the father figure that Evelyn needs?

I am looking forward to what comes next with the series.
