Phyllis (Phil) Dubois has long left her performing days behind, opting for a more anonymous role in the music industry instead. Something not everyone is happy about.

When the pressure for her to return to the stage mounts, she packs her things in an old RV and hits the road in search of some peace and quiet.

She thinks she’s found it when she rolls into the small town of Silence.

Former sheriff, Brant Colter, is still trying to get used to his abrupt retirement after a health scare last year. He’s not good with change and likes things just the way they are.

That’s why, when a purple-haired hippie moves into the empty house down the road, he’s convinced trouble won’t be too far behind.

He’s not wrong. However, it’s not his annoyingly cheerful neighbor he should be worried about, but the danger that follows her to town.

5 Stars

Ms Barker packs a punch in this shorter story set in Silence, Washington. We still get her totally relatable characters, lots of side characters to pull us into a good series and a wonderful small quaint town nestled full of beautiful scenery. A story that pulls you in and holds you to the very end, having you wanting more pages, more time with her characters.

Phil is looking for some quiet as she has left her performing days behind her. It's time to slow down and do the things she loves. Though her band members are not happy with that stand she is making.

Brant is still struggling with the lack of things to do since his heart attack and his recent early retirement. The last thing he is looking for is a purple haired neighbor to make his beautiful quiet space noisy.

Though their first few meetings were not pleasant, they are quick to find they might have more in common than they first thought. When weird things start to happen at Phil's home, who better to have in your corner than an ex Sherriff?

Grab your copy and hold on while Phil finds out the hard way that you can't always trust those closest to you. But she does find a new love that she is happy to replace the old life with.

Excited for what will come from Silence, Washington next in the series.
