It's always a sad day as a series is coming to end, especially when the author gives us a family of characters we have all come to love, intertwined throughtout the series. This installment gives us Hamish and Afton's story, one of unrequited lost love, second chances,  and a meddling tween.

Afton feels the need to return home if for nothing else but closure. Especially since she had gotten a glimpse that her selfish behaviour just might have worked out for everyone involved. She's done some growing up and finding dreams while she was away. Maybe they will work to her advantage when she gets home.

To say Hamish is struggling is a bit of a understatement, but he certainly won't ask for more help from his family or friends. Learning to navigate the single dad gig for Freya, all while starting a new family law business, and renovating the old farm house. One thing is for certain, he doesn't regret the divorce and has a new perspective on life.

Could it be that the stars have aligned for Afton and Hamish. I mean no 300 year old marriage pact, Hamish is single and it is quick to see the hidden feelings are clearly still there. Can Afton find a reason to stay and make her dreams come true in a place she once loved?

Oh these books in the series just keep getting better and better. I think Colton might be my favorite so far. The character growth as we sail through the pages is eye opening. As this grumpy workaholic begins to see the joy of spending some time with other while still being a solid CEO.

Colton wants nothing to do with the communicaitons expect the partnered company sends his way. No matter how hard he tries to discourage Zoey and send her packing she sticks to the plan of helping him get better at all the parts of his job. Colton and Zoey were not looking for this attraction and chemistry but it really was impossible to ignore. As they venture through spending time together and working beside each other, they are working to something more.

The side story is a good one and helps bring Colton closer with his half brothers as they provide a united front. Grandmother is up to her antics once again.

This book and series are highly recommended in my books.
