We are back in Montgavin and getting to see some old faces for Ms Madison's regular readers. But, new readers will not feel like they are missing anything. A fantastic small town vibe with a swoony MMC and a reluctant FMC.
Collins has spent her life in protection mode thanks to her parents. Determined that the people of the town disliked her thanks to horrible things her parents had done. She's one of the best in her job and has worked hard to fit in her the other EMTs and fire fighters. When she finds herself pregnant, she is concerned about how everyone will treat her once they find out.
Theo has made a solid life for himself in Montgavin, working his way to partial ownership of the construct business. He's a hard worker and proud of what he is building. When he runs in to beautiful woman he had one night with, he wants to see her again.
Theo gets a big surprise when he meets Collins again. But he never backs down one bit. Determine to be there for her but she is slow to accepting his help. After spending her life looking out for herself, she doesn't accept help often. Watching Collins slowly let her guard down and let Theo in, is heartwarming.
