Interview with Julie Ann Walker
You are best known for your Black Knights Inc. series. How is your new Deep Six series the same? How is it different?
The two series are the same in that they both feature military men. They both see the guys spouting bro-isms and showcasing their gallows humor. And they are both packed to the gills with thrills and chills. Deep Six is different than Black Knights Inc. in that there's "adventure" as well as "action"; Deep Six is a little more epic. I also upped the ante on the heat level. Black Knights Inc. is super sexy, but Deep Six is so steamy it'll fog the glass on your eReader!
Your heroes in the series are ex-Navy SEALs. What made you decide to write about military heroes?
I write what I know. LOL! I've been writing about military men for three years now and I figure, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Plus, who doesn't love a man in uniform?
With such Alpha heroes, is it difficult to write heroines that can stand up to these larger than life men?
Not at all. My heroines might not be as physically strong as my heroes, but they have a mental toughness that means they can hold their own in any situation. People say opposites attract, but I happen to enjoy the fireworks that explode when an alpha male comes face-to-face with an alpha female. BANG!
Tell us about the couple in Hell or High Water. What brings Olivia and Leo together?
Leo and Olivia have a shared past. She's a CIA agent. He's a former Navy SEAL. Months ago, they were on a mission in Syria that went horribly wrong. In Hell or High Water they are suddenly thrown back together. So even while bombs are bursting and bullets are flying, they have to find a way to overcome their shared past in order to make room for a shared future. But, like most things, that's easier said than done...
What was the easiest scene to write in Hell or High Water? What was the most difficult?
The easiest scenes for me to write are always the sex scenes and the action scenes. Good thing I write romantic suspense, right? Ha! The hardest scenes are those that involve heart-to-hearts. I struggle to do justice to the emotional aspects of the story and the characters.
What is the next Deep Six SEAL to get his story?
The second book in the series is called Devil and the Deep. It stars Brando "Bran" Pallidino whom readers meet in Hell or High Water. Bran is Italian-American, brave, steadfast, and incredibly leery of love. All things that make for a really fun, interesting, and sexy hero!

Leo has one thing on his mind, searching for the treasure of that sunken ship he has heard so much about. Oh and don't forget Olivia. It has been 18 months since that one kiss but he just can't seem to get her out of his mind. Out of the blue she shows up on the island asking for the help of him and his retired seal team. With his team of brothers at his side he knows they can help her.
Olivia finds herself in a pickle with a mission gone bad. She know just the man who can help her. She has kept track of Leo since that day, that kiss. Needing to salvage some deadly chemical off the bottom of the sea, who better to call than retired seals turned salvage divers.
Will there be more to the feelings they can't seem to shake? Will they be able to find the goods and recover them. What other challenges will they come up against in the process.
I did find this book a little slow to get started and to peak my interest. That was a hell of a lot of activity to happen over the course of a day or two. All that being said. There is a part of me that will likely pick up book two. Will it be Bran's story or maybe someone else?
