Is it an accidental pregnancy, if it’s purposefully planned?
Autumn Kulis wants a baby. It’s that simple and that complicated
because one thing stands in her way - she doesn’t have a man in her life. And
at almost forty, she isn’t getting any younger. On a two-week trip to her
brother’s lakeside cottage, a plan forms. Make a list of three men. Sleep with
each of them. Allow nature to take its course. Only, a certain someone gets in
her way.
Logan Anders goes with the flow of life. Divorced, single dad, he
works hard, and occasionally plays harder. When his college roommate invites
him to Lakeside Cottage for two weeks, he hadn’t remembered his best friend’s
little sister being so hot. Nor was he a fan of her plan to find a baby daddy.
He’s determined to make her list then tear it to shreds leaving him the only
man horizontal with her.
When we were forty, we had so much life to live, and a simple
proposition could be the start of a second chance at really living.
4.5 Stars
What a beautiful and emotional journey this book takes us on. A group of lifelong friends who are going through some very real times, spending two weeks just like the old days holidaying and living life to it's' fullest. But things can't always stay that way, and life can be unfair. Sometimes circumstances make you take a deep look and re-evaluate where you want to be.
Autumn is a successful woman running her small café in this beautiful small beach town. She has a wonderful family and lots of love to give. She is a nurturer by nature and feels she is more than ready for the next step in her life and a child. Willing to do this alone as she hasn't had much luck in the relationship department. She is an openly loving woman, who might not quite understand her beauty.
Logan though he had his life as sorted out as it was going to be. Rocking the single dad thing the best he can with his hectic work schedule. His love and devotion to Lorna is beautiful to see. The breakdown of his marriage has left him with some stilted views of love and partnership. But who did he really have as role models, his parents both gone before he found his 3 best friends in college.
Could Autumn actually get a chance to be with her high school crush? Will Logan find that with the right woman, love can be a beautiful thing to look forward to? Could you really start living your life all over at 40, in a different place, with different goals?
What a wonderful build up for a new series. Ms. Dunbar brings us realistic mature characters with real life issues that we as readers can relate to. She makes you feel like part of the book as you read along. Can't wait to see what is next for Zack.
