Release Blitz & Review - CHASING SMOKE by Piper Rayne

Chasing Smoke by Piper Rayne is now live!

I've been running toward burning buildings for a decade. Then my best friend's widow smiled at me for the first time in two years, and I knew right then I was in trouble.

After Caleb died, I made a promise—I’d take care of his wife. Keep an eye on her. Check in on her. Make sure she kept on living.

Collins insists she’s fine. She’s not.

So when she finally agrees to let me help pull her out of her grief, I vow to stand beside her however long she needs me, no matter how much it costs me.

Collins isn’t supposed to smile at me like she does. She’s not supposed to let me in. And she definitely isn’t supposed to be the best part of my day.

She was Caleb’s. I know that.

The problem is, I can't stop wondering what it would be like if Collins wasn't just someone I was meant to protect.

But mine.

4.5 Stars

This is book two in the Mercer Series and it was a great addition. There is lots of healing and emotions in this book. Wonderful characters who take a long slow burn as they navigate feeling they were never expecting.

Collins seems to be a shell of herself since the loss of her husband eighteen months ago. She has struggled with packing things up and getting to the moving on stage. Thankful for Caleb's best friend Ansel, who is helping to push her out of her comfort zone. What she wasn't prepared for was the fast growing feeling that keep pushing to the surface.

Ansel has been concerned for Collins since the passing of his best friend. That horrible night, having to go to their door and tell her he was in an accident. He has tried to offer his help in the past 18 months but she keeps pushing him away. So when she calls and asks for help, he is more than happy to help. As they talk more, he realizes that she needs help with getting herself back to living, not existing. The last thing he ever expected was to start to like his buddies widow.

Grab your copy and see if Collins and Ansel are willing to see where these feelings could take them. Is the concerns of what other people will say too much for them?
