Review - WHEN WE FALL by Marquita Valentine

When We Fall

The last time Piper Ross saw her best friend’s sexy older brother, Jase Simmons, he was being taken away in handcuffs. Seven years later, two things haven’t changed: Piper is still head-over-heels in love with him . . . and Forrestville’s chief of police—Piper’s dad—still hates his guts. So when Piper sees a chance to get close to Jase, she makes her move—literally. As his new roommate, and as the office manager of his tattoo shop, Piper won’t be satisfied until Jase knows that she wants to be his.

The quintessential good girl, Piper is pure temptation for Jase. The only reason he’s always kept his distance is because she’s the last person he’d ever want to hurt. But once he realizes that Piper is ready to take the leap, everything just makes sense. Suddenly Jase feels like a new man—until nasty rumors start swirling and Piper’s heartless father stirs up even more trouble. Now Jase must convince Piper that she wasn’t wrong about him . . . because falling in love never felt so right.

4 of 5 Stars

I knew when we met Piper in Take The Fall that there was so much more behind this quiet girl besides a crush on her best friends big brother. Growing up in the Oaks is not all it was cracked up to be...at least not for Piper. Having to be a perfect daughter to her socialite mother and her chief of police father can be a little stifling sometimes.  But when she was with Rowan and Jase she was always able to be herself. She always saw more in Jase than everyone else expected of him. Sure he was a rebellious teenager but he always looked out for Rowan and her best interest. What is not to love about that... add in a hard inked body and hello!!!!

Jase know that his being sent to Jail was partially because of who he was and where he comes from. Don't get me wrong he had done his share of unlawful things but this was and accident while defending himself. Through is horrible seven years in prison there were only a few who kept Jase fighting for his day of release, Rowan, Piper and Seth. Over the years Piper has gone from his sisters best friend to his perfect dream woman. But she is totally untouchable...right?

When Piper falls on some hard times. Jase just can't say "no" to her. He lets her move in and rent a room and helps her out with a job. Piper is beyond thankful for this and hopes that while she is there she might be able to get Jase to look at her as more.... Jase is determined to keep her at arms length. When the lines are crossed, Jase turns out to be a wonderful gentleman, so very attentive and caring. Will it last or will the fight of the right and wrong sides of town pull them apart? Will they be able to withstand the fight?

This was a wonderful story about love that knows no bounds, it doesn't matter where you come from it is who you become in the process.

I have enjoyed this series and watching these characters grow and come together in their special kind of family. I look forward to what is next to come.
