This is a strong start to a new series and I love the small town feel that we get with this story. There is a lot going on between these pages to keep you reading for answers.

Branson has been dealt a rough hand over the years, he made some bad choices and still feels the backlash from those choices. But he is doing everything he can to show everyone that he is a good man and wants to look after his little brother. He is a hard worker and trying very hard to provide the stable home life Ben deserves. Some town folk and justice system can't see beyond his past.

Emma is reaching out on her own and starting a new job in a small town where she visited often growing up. She is looking forward to being her own person and not connected to her family name. Loving her teaching job and connecting quickly with her students. She has found a wonderful little place on the mountain with a view, and a handsome grumpy mountain man to ogle.

Branson wasn't looking for a relationship, his focus was on getting Ben home. Emma was looking to start her life but wasn't looking for love. A  surprise to both of them as they get to know one another and things move very quickly. Some heat and strong chemistry keep it burning. Soon they are both working strong to make life better for each other and together to get Ben home.

There is a secondary story full of suspense that keeps you thinking while reading. I did find it a little hard to connect with parts of the story but I did enjoy the book overall. I am excited to see where the series will take us next.
