Reivew - PIECES OF BROKEN Series by Celeste Grande

Pieces of Broken Series
by Celeste Grande

Evangelina Ricci is trapped in a world that’s a never-ending nightmare, a constant ache in which consumes her every breath. Unable to bear the torture any longer, she does the one thing she can to take back control.

With her best friend Jace in tow, Evangelina attempts to escape her darkened past by leaving for college and diving head first into an aggressive schedule, determined with everything she is to make a name for herself. There’s only one problem—she can’t run away from the demons she struggles with. The demons that’ll forever be there, locked inside, battering her soul. Hiding behind a flawless fa├žade, Evangelina faces her ghosts until her world is turned upside down, invaded by…him.

Blake Turner. Sweet, witty, flirtatious and drop-dead gorgeous, he finds Evangelina at every turn. Scared he’ll uncover the truth she keeps so well guarded, Evangelina tries her best to put on her act, deterring him like she has so many times before—only this guy’s different. He’s relentless. Utterly, absolutely and completely relentless. He sees her and he wants her and won’t stop until she’s his.

Will Evangelina succeed in pushing Blake away? Or will he break down her walls and be the person to make her realize life is worth living?

This book is centered around some very real harsh realities for some girls/women and I think the author did a pretty good job at sharing with us the emotions that go along hand in hand with those realities.

Ava's need to keep her self closed off from others and not letting anyone else in just in case she would find herself with more hurt. She is fighting hard and trying to take control of her life back. Moving away from her family while she is going to school, distancing herself from him the only way she know how. When she meets Blake, and she feels a draw to him but is still so afraid to put herself out there.

Blake is drawn to Ava "Angel" from the very beginning. He somehow sees the walls she has strongly built around herself. Persistent but willing to take things slowly to get a chance to know her better, to try and get her to let her walls down just a little. I think it is a little bit of finding someone who you can relate to. Blake struggles as his father is determined to make him a lawyer just like him but Blake's passion is not set to be a lawyer. But he feels he has not choice.

Will Ava let Blake in? Can she let the past go and look for a future with love and acceptance?

While I did enjoy the story I found it was longer than it needed to be and I found my attention slipping from time to time while I read. I had to push myself to finish and did think about not finishing a time or to.

When past and present collide…
And second chances aren’t promised.

Evangelina and Blake shared a fiery, heart-pounding, live-beneath-your-skin kind of love. Until her demons came to find her, ripping him from her life. Alone once again, Evangelina tries to pick up the pieces that remain.

But one missing piece is irreplaceable.

Blake is struggling without his Angel, and every turn is a reminder of a love lost. When the burden becomes too much to handle, he decides to salvage what’s left of him—to walk away.

Hidden truths come to light.
Secrets are revealed.
And the battle of Evangelina’s life is on.

The fight for her freedom.
For her light.
For true love.

But when family is your nightmare, and the demons follow your sins, how do you climb back from the darkness?

You find your strength.
You discover your purpose.
And most important…
You remember to breathe.

Breathe You picks up right where Live Me left us broken and shattered. The only difference is not there are two very broken people. Eva more broken than she was before. Not only does she still have the haunted truth about the past but now she has given her heart and lost her soul mate as well. Blake has become a shell of himself, trying to stay away because it hurt to much to see her and not be able to be near her. Will either of these beautiful people be whole again?

After too much time of hiding away, letting herself go, once again Jace kicks her into gear. Pushing Eva to get her life back on track, she has come to far to give up now. With a renewed focus "become a woman worthy of his live" and "take back my life" she jumps in the deep end willingly. Finally opening up to someone and sharing has meant the world of difference. Finding her new friend Drew who is determined to make sure the "next time" she will be able to fight him off.

Blake has conceded to the life his father has been pushing him to. Without Eva in his life there is not need for what he loves or enjoys. He is completely shattered. As much as it reminds him of her, he decides to go ahead with the photography classes she had gifted him. It's like walking through life looking in from the outside.

The more their paths cross the deeper they both seem to be falling into the loss and the further they seem to be apart. When finally Eva decides she can't complete her journey without him by her side. She needs him to breathe and she is going to fight to get him back.... Can she show him that she is done running? Will he give into his heart and take that chance?

Will all the secrets come out? Will Eva loose her family or will they believe her? Can Blake and Eva find happiness?

What a breathtaking, heartbreaking but soul healing story this is. You will feel so many emotions as you read this journey back to living and loving. Ms Grande has really pulled out all the stops and given us a book to sit deep in your heart. I have fallen in love with some secondary characters so I hope to see some of them again soon. I am so glad that I gave book 2 a shot after not being completely sold on book 1. The growth and pull of the writing was super evident.
