This is the third book in the Night Shade Series by Ms. Devecito and they just keep getting better and better. Plenty of action and suspense, loss and quilt, love and happiness with fur babies all wrapped up in one fine package. I was drawn in from the emotional prologue and the wonderful characters kept me reading to find their HEA.
After the heartbreaking loss of seeing her sister be abducted many years ago, Aspen has kind of become a recluse. Keeping to herself the best she can in her little cabin in the woods that makes her feel closer to her sister Willow. The best selling author spends her time living best she can off the land, writing books and spending time with her dog Molly. Finding a man hurt in the woods, her medical knowledge kicks in and she gets him to her cabin and nurses him back to health.
Caden is a Search and Rescue guy for his day job and works for Night Shade Security on his time off. Keeping him and his dog Renegade busy is the best for everyone. This well balanced man hasn't had much by way of relationships but that isn't because he doesn't want to, he just hasn't found the right woman yet. Waking in a strange place with the beautiful amazon looking after him, he is in awe of her attitude and drive.
A quick connection has Caden worried and willing to help when strange things begin to happen. It seems that the dogs have taken quite a liking to one another as well. Could these two have finally found their match? Can they uncover the truth in the woods?
