This was an action packed Mafia based book with many men trying to run the life of an innocent woman for their benefit. Just the right mixture of action, suspense and steamy hotness to keep a reader engaged.
Gemma gets a break from the life of a Mafia princess for a little while and learns to stand on her own two feet for once. Giving her time to learn what she really wants to do with her life. Stand on her own and make her own decisions. Gemma's character gains more strength with each day she is not with her father.
Matteo had a mission and it was carefully planned out. He was working the plan to find his cousins killer and make him pay. He wasn't prepared for Gemma and the draw she help on him. He wasn't prepared for the feelings and emotions that this sparrow would make him feel. For once in a long time his focus wasn't always on work and revenge. But can he find the answers he needs and still get the woman who has gotten under his skin.
Will the lies and ways of the Mafia be too much? Will Gemma and Matteo give in to the feelings they are having? Can they find a new life, and live it to the fullest.
At times the old ways of the Mafia had me angry, but the soft heartedness of Matteo and his team with Gemma was a breath of fresh air in a deranged world.
