Release Blitz & Review - IGNITING VIC by Freya Barker

Igniting Vic

Victoria “Vic” Paige thought she was firmly back in the saddle since returning to her job as a firefighter after a three-year hiatus. These past twelve months with her new crew at Station 3 have rebuilt her confidence. That is until they are called to a motel fire where she stumbles onto the scene of a murder, which has her shaken to the core. But a pair of calm blue eyes and the deep composed voice of the first detective on the scene restores her equilibrium.

As a recent transplant from the Denver PD to the smaller Durango force, Detective Bill Evans is enjoying the slower pace. So when he is called to a motel fire, he doesn’t expect it to be the first in a series of gruesome murders, bringing back unwelcome memories. The only high point is finding the familiar, beautiful, blond-haired firefighter on the scene. Despite the heavy workload inevitable with a difficult case like this, he’s determined not to let that stroke of good luck go to waste.

However, when the killer turns the investigation personal, Evans finds himself reconnecting with his former partner, Quint Axton, as he scrambles to keep those he cares about safe.

5 Stars

This series just keeps getting better and better. The well plotted suspense full of the whos & whys and  the added sizzle of the budding mature relationships hold her readers hostage to the pages. Emotions jump off the pages and suck you into the community.

Vic has worked hard for her respect as a firefighter. Drawn to this career thanks to her father, once Cheif, but it is a mans world and the women must work extra hard. After taking time to look after her dad she has returned to work and feelig a little out of place some days. Sticking mostly to herself with Trin and Tucker no longer in the house. Vic is oftern afraid to open up to other and show her feelings.

Bill has settled into life in a new town, new force. Happy to be working and making life better for others. He has certainly see his share of gruesome things over the years. A single father with a grown daughter, living her life miles away has been an adjustment. Bill finds himself surprisingly drawn to and protective of Vic. Deciding life is too short, he plans to run with it.

In the eyes of a serial killer is where nobody ever wants to find themselves but Vic seems to be there without even knowing it. Is Vic actually who is in danger or are the sights on the Detective. Can they find the killer before there is too many lost? Will Vic and Bill find a way to move past old deep seated emotions and look for something new and worth fighting for?

Another fabulous read by Freya Barker.
