(Storm MC #3)
by Nina Levine
ARC Review
Released: July 20, 2014
My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️
Nash Walker hides the demons that consume his soul. He buries them deep and distracts himself with sex. Anything to avoid facing a past full of heartbreak and regret; anything to numb the pain that he struggles with daily.
Velvet Carr has spent years fighting her demons. It’s a fight she’s winning. That is, until Nash crashes his way into her life and into her heart.
It started out as a bit of harmless fun between friends; it wasn’t meant to get complicated for either of them. But when two broken souls come together and arouse unwanted feelings in each other, complicated is what happens.
Can Nash and Velvet help heal each other and revive the love in their lives that they’ve both been refusing to allow in for years? Or will they let their demons ruin any chance they may have at happiness?"
*****
Oh my!! The most anticipated and written about character before he had his own book, really was worth waiting for!!! Nash is all he was hyped up to be .... and MORE!!
We came to know him as a good-natured and devastatingly good looking manwhore whose constant one-liners were enough to melt the underwear of females of any ilk or age, within a 200 yard circumference! In REVIVE Nina Levine shows us there is so much more to this enticing character. A man who had held the world in his arms at a point in his life when he was too young to appreciate the full value of what he had, and could lose. A man who never found a way to let go of the pain buried deep inside him. A man who fought hard not to let anyone in, for fear of losing what is left of his heart. He has no defense against Velvet however, she has found a way into his life, under his skin and finally into his heart.
Velvet has had a rough go of it, but after having been stripped of her self esteem, she turns her life around and now strips to make a living, building up her strength. She's had a good friend in Nash, who is one of her bosses at the club, and has tried charming her into his bed more than once. But Velvet has vowed not to mess up a good friendship with some meaningless sex, and a relationship is not something Nash is built for, nor is it what Velvet wants. But what Velvet hadn't counted on was that once they breached that boundary, there would be no turning back for either of them.
Nash was a big surprise, even though I had suspected from previous books in this series that there was more to the man than what he was showing the world. The layers of his character were very revealing and a challenge to the readers to accept ALL of this unexpectedly complex man.
Nina put a lot of faith in her readers also, by asking them to accept the character of Velvet, whom she was able to make completely believable as a former wife of a prominent political family member now turned stripper in a biker owned club. The catch of course being that Velvet seemed completely accepting of herself in this 'jump' in situation and environment. Something she manages to convey quite well. It had me admiring Velvet's strength of character.
If there was one thing I missed it might have been a little more MC intrigue.... there seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes, and we get numerous hints and suggestions at movement within the club, but there is no action to accompany the innuendo. When, on the last few pages, a bombshell is dropped, there are no real hard clues or events that could offer us a theory as to what in heavens' name is happening with Storm MC. A huge dangling thread left for the next book to hopefully explain away....... And I will be waiting with bated breath!
✨Blatantly carnal, heart-breakingly emotional and highly charged!✨
