ARC Review
Release: July 1, 2014, Berkley
"Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.
Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans..."

Ok.... So now I'm head over heels for a strong, laid back, quietly good-natured, slightly rumpled, but oh-so-delicious, small town veterenarian. Geeze. Thanks Jill Shalvis!
God, this woman can create characters! I'd sell my left nut - if I had nuts to sell - to be able to create the type of colorful and diverse cast of leading and supporting folks this book holds. Not just Emily and Wyatt, who can hold together the book all by themselves quite easily - but the sisters, all of them, are superbly unique and highly entertaining in their personalities and quirky idiosyncrasies.
Then she throws the animals at us... from the big slobbering, welcoming clinic dog, the foul-mouthed parrot and the happy kong-swallowing mastiff to an array of hurting, injured and generally love-seeking animals, each one of which fine-tuned to pulverize our already bruised little hearts.
Enter the forbidden fruit, the ultimate no-no, the dangerous seductive stray off the safe but lonely path. Emily can't do it. She is like Eve.... she has to taste the apple. Again and again. And again. And the apple isn't objecting. Hell no. The apple is enjoying the hell out of being tasted. Both know they are playing with fire. After all, they've had one night together that had impact which lasted six months, but then they didn't KNOW each other. Now they work together and can't avoid the other. Even though they represent each other's Achilles' heel. That soft spot that would surely get them hurt again. Communicating would help... but they are too busy for that.
Thus far, my favorite by Jill Shalvis for reading pleasure, for characters, for balance of romance, humor, drama and frickin' hot sex! You bring it Jill!! Is it me, or has that factor been cranked a notch or two? You won't hear me complain! As always, books are too short for me.... when they are a pleasure to read, I want them to be 1500 pages long. I know, too long for most, but I read like the wind and there are few voices that could keep my attention for an extended period like that, Kristen Ashley is one, Carly Phillips is one and Jill Shalvis is one.
More is more....for you ladies!!
✨A seductive, vibrant and animated change of plans.✨
