The only reason Ellie Watt got in the car with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, was to give Camden a chance for a real life, to keep him safe. He is a good man. What Ellie doesn't understand, are Javier's reasons for wanting her back after all these years. If anything, he is more dangerous than ever before and seems to have plans for her he won't share.
Javier is playing mind games with Ellie, a cold and ruthless stranger one minute, and the familiar mesmerizing man she knew, the next. Cut off from everyone she loved, Ellie is left feeling disconnected, alone and conflicted. Slowly she is pulled back down into the dangerous world from which she escaped many years ago and she has now resistance. The only thought that has any power over her is that she is keeping Camden safe, and Javier is sure to remind her of that.
When Camden watches the SUV drive off with Ellie and Javier, he feels his heart ripping from his chest, but he was left no choice. His child has to come first. When his goodwill is betrayed and that choice is taken from him once again, he suddenly finds himself on the run with the police on his tail. There is only one thing left to do now, go after Ellie and stay out of the hands of the authorities.
First course of action for Camden is to get help, he is out of his league and he knows it. There is only one person he knows of who might be able to give him a hand, if he can get close enough to talk to him. And then the chase is on. Camden finds himself digging into his darker side in order to get to Ellie as fast as he can. Morality fades when you are faced with the possibility of losing the one person you love more than anything.

OMG!!!!!! FAN-FRICKIN-TASTIC!!! No, seriously.....this is an edge-of-your seat, emotional roller-coaster, ride-of-your-life book!!
Betrayal, love, confusion, obsession, rage, excitement, calculation, passion, revenge, shame.......it's all right here......in this book. And we're not done yet, folks! I have a feeling it will only get better! This is book #2 in The Artists Trilogy.
Javier seems to have morphed into something truly ugly in this book.....at least at first, until you start glimpsing little snippets of perhaps a vulnerability that still has a grip on him, where Ellie is concerned. That becomes more evident in the last chapters.
Camden, oh Camden.....from my first impression of him as a tad on the weak side (just an itty bit), although always scrumptiously appealing with his physical attributes and inked body, he turns into this 'Man on a Mission'. Let me tell you......that is HOT! Single-minded focus, going after what is his and taking no prisoners........atta boy, Camden!!!
Ellie..... Conflicted, just having found a semblance of peace, to have it decimated again and her heart slowly manipulated with the old bitter taste of revenge once more, is confused. And how could she not be, she has no touch stone, nothing to measure to. Still not fully trusting in the colour of her own heart, she, too easily, gives up on herself. Good thing some who love her have done a better job of gauging her worth, and aren't quite ready to give up yet!
Karina Halle, I don't know if you can do one better with the third instalment, but I am telling you, I am waiting with bated breath!
✨Oh, and can I just say........I just want to lick this cover!!✨
