Taddy Brill has dragged herself up by the bootstraps and turned herself into the millionaire PR woman she is today. A towering natural redhead, she is as beautiful as she is crass, and as loyal as she is tough. A handful of best friends have made up her family for lack of better, and other than to provide her with a non-battery induced orgasm occasionally, she hasn't ever needed a man for anything.

Still a young man, but already richer than Croesus, Warner Truman built his hotel-resort empire from the ground. He guards his properties as closely as he guards his heart these days, after finding too many French manicures pretending to aim for his crotch, going after his wallet instead. That is until he meet the brassy, taunting and completely captivating Red, and she calls him Big Daddy....

By the time Warner and Taddy have their names straightened out, their bodies and emotions have become seriously entangled. Just in time for the past to rear it's ugly head and threaten to knock the happy out of Taddy. But with her Big Daddy standing firmly by her side, she can leave the past where it belongs and take a big step into the future.

*****

Cripes!!! Deviant, outrageous, crass, explicit and yet.......it has a sad core story. Like peeling an onion, or scrubbing layers of colourful paint to reveal a rich swirl of weathered wood, beautiful in all its imperfection.

Avery Aster writes a book that reads like 'Sex In The City' on steroids, a world so alien to me, she can tell me anything and it's all a fairy tale to me. If it had not been for the Prologue keeping me tied in to the story early on, I might not have given it the attention it ended up deserving. It took half of the book for me to find a connection with Taddy, but once I did, I bled for her.

Pacing at times felt a bit off, parts were rather rushed and left me feeling deprived. For example the Epilogue seemed cut off, but I guess that is one of the wonders of series.....there is always an opportunity to catch up with characters later.

The shock value early in in the book is high and my biggest fear is that like me, there might be some who won't give the story its full due, to the point where the entire story makes sense. I hope the story will get its chance, however 'unrelatable'.... it is beautiful.

UNSCRUPULOUS is probably suited to the open-minded reader, not shy or afraid of sexually very descriptive language and scenes. I don't think it needs to be limited to an age frame, other than perhaps older than 18.  The sex is hot flash-inducing........trust me, I've suffered a few!! And that is all I'm willing to share........Avery Aster makes the pages smoulder!!

UNSCRUPULOUS is book #2 in The Manhattanites Series by Avery Aster.
UNDRESSED was book #1.

  1. Thank you for such a wonderful review. I had so much fun writing Taddy story. Unscrupulous #2 (Taddy Warner) comes out August 14th and is a prequel to Undressed #1 (Lex and Massimo). Unsaid #3 is Blake's romance. Be sure to add it to your Goodreads page. It'll be out later this year.
