For sixteen months Rachel Carter has worked her dream job, while trying very hard to ignore the fact that she has had the hots for her boss since day one. There is no way she will risk lure working relationship with him, though, she could never find a position or a job better suited.
Self-made man, Adrian Blackstone comes from humble but hard-working beginnings, and it is those values that have carried him far in his historic renovation business. Since a little over a year, things have been even better, with his assistant Rachel by his side. It hasn't been easy, keeping his hands off the gorgeous temptation walking through his office for the last year and a half.
When a client they were scheduled to meet at a mountain resort cancels due to closed roads during a snowstorm, it leaves Adrian and Rachel stranded on the mountain. Although they attempt to keep their distance, before long they find themselves sharing drinks, jokes, a dance and eventually an unavoidable kiss under the mistletoe.
As feared, their heated passionate weekend trapped in the snow, quickly turns into uncomfortable workcircumstances when Monday morning comes around.
A nice light Christmas read, with sympathetic characters that have good chemistry.
Interesting that both Adrian and Rachel had the same considerations when the carefully avoided any personal involvement all the time they worked together. Neither was willing to sacrifice their working relationship. Yet when they did finally cross that line, they never followed up with an outline as to how they were going to handle things 'back in the office', with as a result the total breakdown of communication. I have a bit of trouble buying into that, when they have been so protective of that professional connection for so long, to not at least work harder at that.
The characters were not deeply fleshed out, which you really can't expect in a short like this, but given sufficient context for the purposes of the story. Which, by the way, was nicely sizzling and certainly well-written, both things you can expect from Shannon Stacey!
✨A nicely spiced holiday affair!✨
