Single mother of two, Ali Holmes, spends her days working in her family pizzeria and her nights in the arms of her lover. For three years she had been taken whatever he had been willing to share with her, but it simply was no longer enough.
Never the same after the disappearance of his mother fifteen years ago, Tate Bell was consumed with the need to find answers. He still blames his father for the horrible fight that took place right before she left the house that last time. He simply cannot take that risk with Ali, he loves her.
When Ali ends their 'arrangement', it is a harsh wake up call for Tate. The last thing he wants is to lose her. But if he wants to have any chance with her, he will have to find a way to come to terms with the demons from his past......face to face.

*******
Maximum impact in a novella!!
Shiloh Walker draws us into the core of the story, right off the bat. Nothing like getting your feet wet! Without immediately surrounding her characters with a file cabinet of background, Ms. Walker is able to paint us a good impression of personality and feed us sufficient context over time, to properly place each one in the story.
Ali has been biding her time, but is finding that with her two boys, a failed marriage in her past, and her work in the family restaurant - she feels like a "dirty secret" to be kept, a mere 'convenience' to be used and put away again. She deserves more.
Tate has built a lifetime of guilt and anger on the events as experienced by the teenager he once was. But those aren't the worst of his demons, the worst would be fear - fear of that which cannot be controlled. And that is what has him immobilized - until the prospect of losing love is more terrifying than fear itself.
Gorgeous writing...... I just can get lost in Shiloh Walker's style, which flows just beautifully regardless of what she writes. Whether it be an action scene in one of her Blade novels or a love scene in this book... the words chosen inevitably convey just the right mood, the right emotion or attitude. She is as always a pleasure to read.
✨An intense and captivating reality check.✨
